Lacey and Larking Frontera Fund
Jim Larkin and M. Lacey, the founders of Village Voice Media, were recently arrested and compensated for the apprehension. The two journalists are also the founders of Phoenix New Times.
They were taken from their houses, by Sherriff Joe Arpaio, at night. Larkin and Lacey had made an exclusive about the Sherriff. The reporters` article revealed that a grand jury was seeking the reporters` notes that covered the Sherriff`s story.
The grand jury went further to demand the identity of the citizens who had read the article from the New Times stories. Lacey and Larking were dedicated advocates who defended the First Amendment Right throughout their career. They utilized their experience to sue the county.
The case prevailed in the ninth circuit of the Court of Appeal. The two reporters won the case. They received a settlement fee of $3.75 million from the county. Larkin and Lacey decided to use the money to support groups that advocated for human, civil and migrants` rights in Arizona.

Founded in 1994, COHRE is a non-governmental organization that was established in Geneva. Scott Leckie established the group as a foundation for human rights in Netherlands. American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU)
